Luke 2:25-35
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout. He was looking for the comforting of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been told him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he would see the Christ of the Lord. And he came in the Spirit to the Temple, and as the parents brought in the Boy Jesus, to do according to the custom of the Law regarding Him, then he received Him in his arms, and blessed God, and he said, “Now dismiss Your slave in peace, Master, according to Your word, because my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You made ready before the face of all the peoples; a light for the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory from Your people Israel.” And His father* and His mother were wondering about the things spoken about Him. And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, His mother, “Behold, this (One) is appointed for the falling and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against. But a sword will also be piercing through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts would be revealed.”
