Encounter 64 – Mark

Exploring the Identity of the Young Man in Gethsemane

Mark 1:1-16:20, 14:51-52(?)

Mark 14:51–52 (LEB)
51 And a certain young man was following him, clothed only in a linen cloth on his naked body. And they attempted to seize* him, 52 but he left behind the linen cloth and* fled naked.

The Gospel of Mark never identifies who the author is, but tradition says it was John Mark. Could he be the one that was in the Garden of Gethsemane in Mark 14:51-52? It is a possibility. Whether or not this is the author of Mark, the fact that Mark was chosen to write one of the Gospels about Jesus, he does belong a member of the 153.

Below is the result of an AI search where I asked “where is Mark mentioned in the Bible?”.
