Encounter 3 – Elizabeth

Luke 1:39-56

And rising in these days, Mary quickly went to the hill country, to a Judean city. And she entered into the home of Zacharias, and greeted Elizabeth. And it came to pass, as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby jumped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled of the Holy Spirit. And she spoke out loudly, and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord might be coming to me? For behold, as the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb jumped with gladness. And blessed is she who believes, for the things spoken to her by the Lord will be completed.” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, because He looked on the lowliness of His maidservant. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty did great things to me, and His name is holy. And His mercy is unto generations and generations, to those fearing Him. He does mightily with His arm. He scatters the proud in the thought of their heart. He brings down the mighty from thrones, and He exalts the lowly. He fills the hungry with good, and He sends the rich away empty. He supported Israel, His servant, in remembrance of (His) mercy, as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever.” And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home.

Now is the time for Elizabeth’s encounter. She had a full blown encounter with the Holy Spirit, all because the baby in her womb leapt for joy when the unborn baby Jesus was still in the womb. Plus Elizabeth showed how Jesus was her personal savior as well when she said, “…the mother of my Lord…”.
