Encounter 8 – Andrew

John 1:35-41

Again, on the next day, John was standing, and two of his disciples. And looking at Jesus walking, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” And the two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus. And Jesus turned, and seeing them following, He said to them, “What do you seek?” And they said to Him, “Rabbi,” which is translated “Teacher”, “where are You staying?” He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” They came, and saw where He was staying, and they stayed that day, and it was about the tenth hour. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard from John, and followed Him. This one first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah,” which is translated “Christ”.

Andrew was one of the first two called Apostles of Jesus. He was the first who knew that Jesus was the Messiah and he went and told Simon Peter that they found the Messiah. Makes one wonder what was said on that first day with Jesus. I’m sure that being a disciple of John the Baptist was a good start as well.
