Encounter 23 – The Woman with the Hemorrhage

Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34, Luke 8:43-48

And behold, a certain woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, and suffering many things under many physicians, and spending all that she had, [on physicians]T, and could not be healed by anyone, and profiting nothing, but rather became worse, when she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd, and touched the fringe of His garment, for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garments, I will get well.” And immediately her hemorrhage stopped. The flow of her blood was dried up, and she knew in (her) body that she had been healed of the affliction. And the woman was saved from that hour. And immediately, Jesus, knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned about in the multitude, (and) said, “Who is the one who touched My garments?” And while they were all denying it, Peter (and) His disciples [who were with him,]T said to Him, “Master, You see the crowds are crowding and pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I know (that) power went out from Me.” And He was looking around to see the woman who did this. But when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came, fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her. And when Jesus turned and saw her, she fell down before Him, and told Him the whole truth, declaring to Him before all the people why she touched Him, and how she was healed immediately. But He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
