Luke 1:26-38
And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the name of the virgin was Mary. And the angel came to her and said, “Rejoice, favored one. The Lord is with you. [You are blessed among women]T.” But [when she saw him,]T she was troubled on this word, and reasoned what kind of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not fear, Mary, for you have found grace before God. And behold, you will conceive in the womb, and will bring forth a Son, and you will call His name Jesus. He will be great, and He will be called the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will give to Him the throne of David, His father. And He will reign over the house of Jacob for all time. And of His kingdom there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, also, the Holy One being born will be called ‘Son of God’. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is her sixth month, she who was called barren, because with God nothing will be impossible.” And yet Mary said, “Behold the Lord’s maidservant. May it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel left her.
